Starting Block
The basic Squirrel data logger is small and portable and consists of the CPU and battery pack. The CPU contains the processor, memory, power connector, display, RS232 serial connection, a pulse input, an 8 bit digital signal input and output connector.

Additional Modules
Typically up to eight input modules can be connected to the CPU with the cumulative total of inputs typically limited to 124. A variable height case, modular in concept, optimises the case size for the number of boards installed. Versions in excess of the typical limits just mentioned can be considered. We are continually developing new input modules to increase the scope of the Squirrel data logger range.
If you are unable to locate the model or module that meets your requirements then please contact us - remember we specialise in customisation and are therefore ideally resourced to design and manufacture combinations not readily available from other suppliers and possibly unique to your application.

Memory

Internal memory
The logger is fitted as standard with 250K of memory, backed up by a lithium battery, and at least 250,000 locations are available for data storage. Note that this refers to data storage, not bytes, as 2 bytes of conventional memory are used for every reading. Extra memory is available, modules for 520K, 1,040K and 2,080K readings are available - see the options page.

Serial data input

Many instruments are manufactured for instantaneous measurements (such as balances) and provide an RS232 output. This can be connected to the Squirrel data logger for recording. The Squirrel is equipped with two RS232 serial ports (part of the CPU) - one for the connection to the PC and the second for connection to devices providing an RS232 output. Refer to Eltek for use of the second RS232 port as specific firmware will be required.
