Squirrel Input Type : Thermocouple K / T |
· Temperature Measurement using Thermocouples |
Thermocouples consist of a thermoelement, that is a junction of
two specified dissimilar wires that poduce a small temperature dependent
voltage.
- K Inputs are intended for use with Type K thermocouples, that
is Chromel/Alumel (Ni-Cu/Ni-Al) thermocouples. Temperatures up to 1370ºC
can be measured. Type K sensors are preferred and should be used unless there
is a very good reason not to!
- T Inputs are intended for use with Type T thermocouples, that
is Copper/Constantan (Cu/Cu-Ni) thermocouples, permitting temperature
measurement up to 350ºC with greater accuracy than Type K thermocouples.
- CJC (Cold Junction Compensation) is built into the Squirrel (for
explanation of CJC see FAQs). This, together with thermocouple connectors and
special connecting leads available for thermocouple sensors assures reliable
and accurate temperature measurement.
- Refer to the table "Special Range
Setting" for inputs assigned to other thermocouple types such as C, D,
E, J, N, R, S and enhanced K and T.
