Squirrel Input Type : V/C

Each input may be configured as a V or C input.

Voltage inputs (V) are intended for use with any sensor that provides a DC voltage analogous to the parameter being measured.

  • The V input impedance is high - typically 1M Ohm, and therefore does not significantly load the sensor output and the resistance of the connecting leads are almost irrelevant.
  • Note the various voltage spans and resolutions provided by Squirrel enable a wide range of sensors to be connected.
  • Typical sensor types that provide a DC voltage output are available for Humidity (0-1V), Pressure, Light etc.

Current inputs (C) are compatible with Transducers (that is a sensor when connected to a device developing a 4 -20mA output).

  • The main advantage of the industry standard 4-20mA system is that the connection to the transducer need only be two wire and is largely independent of cable resistance, interference pickup and length if correctly specified. Squirrels also provides 4 wire connections if required.
  • A vast number of 4-20mA transducers designed for measuring just about anything are available.
  • Eltek loggers are provided with an internal 10 Ohm shunt for current measurement.
  • 0 to 20 mA current loop can also be configured.

Module M06 provides inputs that can be configured as V or C or P inputs.
