Eltek is strengthening its focus on the life sciences sector as part of the Royston Instruments Group, as the wider group continues to grow. The development brings together complementary expertise from Eltek, Grant Instruments and BIOSAN SIA to support life science laboratories, biobanks and regulated facilities.
What is changing
Eltek's growing life sciences focus follows its acquisition by Grant Instruments and Royston Instruments' acquisition of a controlling stake in Biosan. As the group continues to develop, Eltek's engagement with the life sciences market is deepening. The focus brings together scientific instrumentation, laboratory workflow equipment and continuous environmental monitoring, drawing on the distinct strengths of each business. Complementary expertise across the group
Each business brings a distinct area of knowledge to the laboratory environment. Grant Instruments has a long-established presence in scientific instrumentation and temperature control. Biosan provides equipment supporting a wide range of laboratory workflows. Eltek specialises in continuous environmental monitoring and data logging.
The growing capabilities across Eltek, Grant Instruments and Biosan also provide the wider group with an increasingly comprehensive offering to control, manage and monitor critical laboratory environments. For Eltek, this is an opportunity to build on more than 40 years of UK engineering experience and to apply its monitoring technology to the demands of life science settings.
What it means for laboratories, biobanks and regulated facilities
Eltek's integrated approach combines sensors, wireless data logging, alarms and the Darca Solutions Suite to continuously monitor a range of equipment including refrigerators, cold rooms, ultra-low temperature freezers, incubators, stability chambers and cryogenic storage.
From an individual laboratory to multisite operations, the aim is to give scientific and quality teams greater visibility of their critical environments, and to maintain reliable, traceable records to support investigations, audits, data integrity and regulated workflows, including those operating to 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
Working with life science organisations
Eltek is already working with a number of life science organisations to demonstrate the technology and explore how continuous monitoring can be deployed across existing laboratory and storage infrastructure.
