An Eltek Darca Wired logger wall-mounted in a manufacturing facility, wired to a probe, capturing high-accuracy temperature readings

Darca Wired · The wired solution

Accurate environmental monitoring for critical indoor environments

Designed for professional use, the Darca Wired provides reliable, high-accuracy data capture where precision matters most. With support for 3-wire and 4-wire PT resistance probes, it delivers dependable temperature monitoring for laboratories, museums, industrial facilities, and other environments where confidence in every reading is essential.

What the SQ16Plus accepts

The SQ16Plus multi-channel logger, part of the Eltek product portfolio, is designed for high-density wired acquisition across multiple channels from a single unit. Powered by 6 × AA batteries or 9–36 VDC external supply, it operates from −30°C to +60°C and stores up to 800,000,000 readings on 16 Gb internal flash at a default sample interval of one second.

Input types accepted (SQ16Plus):

  • Thermocouples — types B, C, D, J, K, N, R, S and T, covering ranges from −200°C to +2320°C (type-dependent), for high-temperature process applications including ovens, curing, and heat-treatment.
  • PT100 and PT1000 resistance probes in 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire configurations (IEC751 / JIS1604), rated −200°C to +850°C, for high-accuracy resistance-thermometry.
  • 3-wire and 4-wire resistance inputs to 10,000Ω (SQ16Plus only), for PT-type and general resistance measurement.
  • 4–20 mA and voltage inputs for connecting process instruments that output a standard current or voltage signal — including transmitters, transducers, and sensors used in building services, industrial plant, and process control.
  • Five channel types: Analogue (temperature, resistance, current, voltage), Calculated, Pulse, Event, and Reference Junction — enabling mixed-channel configurations from a single unit.

This range means the SQ16Plus serves both environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity) and process monitoring (energy analysis, HVAC performance, process signals) from the same unit.

When wired monitoring is the right choice

Wireless GenII transmitters are the right answer for most distributed monitoring — museum galleries, archive stores, open plant areas, and multi-room facilities — battery-powered, non-invasive, no cabling required. The SQ16Plus is the answer when a wireless sensor cannot do the job:

  • Probes inside equipment. A temperature probe inside an oven or curing chamber must connect by cable to its transmitter or logger — the probe itself is a passive element and cannot be a self-contained wireless sensor node. For multi-channel installations, mixed input types (thermocouple alongside PT100, 4–20 mA, or voltage), or where a single wired unit must cover the full array, the SQ16Plus is the right choice and routes all channels into Darca Command.
  • Fixed, permanent installations. Any fixed measurement point where a wireless sensor is impractical and a continuously connected, calibrated wired probe is the specified approach — where cable runs are practical and the measurement point does not move.
  • High channel-count sites. Where many measurement points must be captured at high density — production lines, HVAC plant rooms, multi-zone process areas — the SQ16Plus manages the full array from one unit.
  • Process signals alongside temperature. Monitoring 4–20 mA outputs from process instruments on the same platform as temperature and humidity.

Where it's used

From the lab bench to the factory floor

Laboratories and life sciences

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, biobanking, and clinical research, wired probes suit the fixed monitoring points: ULT freezers requiring dense sensor placement, stability chambers with calibrated internal probes, and cold rooms where a permanent wired installation is preferred.

For laboratory monitoring requirements, see pharmaceutical cold chain and laboratory freezer monitoring.

Museums and archives

In conservation settings where the measurement point is fixed — a wired sensor inside an airtight display case, or a multi-channel array across a historic building with a permanent installation in place — the SQ16Plus provides the wired accuracy required at that point.

Manufacturing, industrial, and process environments

The SQ16Plus manages process monitoring, energy analysis, and HVAC performance in production and industrial settings. For through-process applications — oven profiling and heat-treatment — the unit accepts thermocouple probes engineered for high temperatures and harsh environments, captures readings across multiple channels from a single logger, and generates audit-ready records.

On mixed industrial sites, where some monitoring points suit wireless and others require wired acquisition, the SQ16Plus and GenII wireless transmitters run as complementary layers under one architecture. Getting Started Guide (SQ16 & SQ16Plus)

Quick-start guide to get your Darca Wired logging system up and running.

One platform — wired and wireless together

The Darca Wired is one layer of the Darca Solutions Suite. Wired measurements from the SQ16Plus appear in the same Darca Command dashboard, alongside the same alarms and scheduled reports, as readings from wireless GenII transmitters anywhere else on your site or estate. There is no separate platform to manage, no data to reconcile between systems.

For a fuller account of manufacturing and industrial monitoring, including how wired and wireless sensing are matched to specific measurement tasks, see the applications section.
